Project Description

Bondi Wastewater Treatment Plant

Thompson Controls was engaged as a contractor by Sydney Water for this ongoing project, as part of the SMART team.

The Bondi WWTP ocean outfall effluent pump panel required replacement due to a number of factors including:

  • Damage to cables from hydrogen sulphide in the air.

The Thompson Controls’ team undertook design, supply, installation and commissioning work, including:

  • Create space within SWR610 to allow for the installation and cut over of replacement SCA
  • Consolidate HV pump monitoring and controlling I/O onto Modbus networks
  • Consolidate field I/O associated with existing DCS into new ELP and PLP panels
  • Decommission existing EP panels to create space for new SCA’s
  • Consolidate essential services starters and power distribution into separate SCA
  • Construct and install new PLP’s and UPP’s.
  • Undertake Profibus, Modus and Foundation Fieldbus interfaces to existing equipment and networks
  • Modify existing control power distribution system (UPP’s)
  • Install of new fibre optics network
  • Install Ethernet SCADA and Control network
